The Faculty aims to excel in technology transfer, business transformation, sustainable development and creative industries, which are themes which drive the many subject disciplines encompassed within the three Schools.
Our research and knowledge exchange activity with enterprise continues to grow apace. The Faculty is exceptionally successful in working with entrepreneurs and small to medium size enterprises. The School of Engineering and the Built Environment provides technology transfer routes between the University and industry through focused service centres including the Institute for Product Design and Manufacture; the EDTC Technology Gateway; Electronics Manufacturing Services; the Scottish Advanced Manufacturing Centre; the Scottish Energy Centre; the Advanced Materials Centre; the Transport Research Institute and the Centre for Timber Engineering.Our award winning industry facing technology transfer centre the EDTC Technology Gateway has successfully mentored entrepreneurs and small to medium size enterprises through the strategic product development cycle for over ten years.
